brain storming

Alright so before I start this thing up we need to decide some things
So far we decided we're going to have multiple houses like Harry potter, and it's going to use a modern setting, and voodoo will be involved

Here's what I need to know before I start making lore

1 what kind of houses do we want, what will divide them?

2 Will this school and magical world be hidden from non magical humans like Harry Potter? Or will everyone know about it

3 what races do we want humans are a must but do .we want others?

Okay as for your questions this is what I got ,

1.I believe the houses should be divided by your talent or the base of your power , such as a house for elementals ,a house for conjurers , a house for Alchemists , a house for necromancers and so on.

2. I don't think it shod be hidden ,i think the government would almost force magic users into these schools.

3 .as for races i think vampires at one good one , and fae types as well .

That seems like a lot of houses to fill, we'll wait for the others to get here before anything is decided though

Yea it is a bit much ,but I just didn't want to go the Hogwarts route on it.

Lol, I was think that we could do it more of HP style. But many we could thin it out more, so there are no more then 5-6 houses. I'm Lynx/Cascade

Ok I have to add something I don't like the idea of breaking them down into power types, I prefer the harry potter/Dragon age/skyrim omniwizard aproach, as such I think the hp type classes are a better idea

I'd be OK with it. But I don't know if we should have other races. If we do, there should be no hybrids and not a lot of choices.

Perhaps the "houses" could be based more on the region they are from, or their social status

So here are my ideas for subjects that each student Will need to gain at least a basic understanding of. I think the school will be independent study mostly, with professors supervising and occasional checking the students progress (they also would act as tutors or assign an older student to help if you came to them for help.) I was thinking the students would all be high school age 13-18 and that older students would generally be less supervised

Summoning- calling forth spirits an creatures to do the mage's bidding

Elementalism- Calling forth elements like fire bolts and ice shards

Voodoo- involves curses raising the dead,, and some summoning

Potion making

Illusion magic

Transmutation

Enchanting- involves wand, staff, and enchanted item creation

what do you guys think?

Hmmm....that works I suppose right , I don't know about houses though , I feel they should have fraternities and the like , four or five of them ...and characters who don't meet the requirements just miss out on certain chances ,positions and bonuses.

Clubs and fraternities are a good idea,  what were you thinking for the fraternities?,,(hey Maj on an unrelated note Lord Irish is down for you too yeah?)

For clubs I only have one solidified idea

I think a club for the most elite of the school is needed ,the highest born , most intelligent most adept of the school, using the funding from their families to organize they're own ventures and such on none school hours.

Well there are demons, you can summon them but they're not really allowed to roam around free in society
