The attack of the forces of chaos   had caught the 172nd catachan regiment off guard leading to some of the most brutal fighting primaris psyker longinus had ever been a part of. The catachans had fought well but the enemies chaos space marines had made the difference forcing the less well equipped catachans into a fighting retreat to a relatively nearby position of a Cadian guard regiment. Longinus had led a psyker battle squad with lesser sanctioned psykers into a small victory against a group of traitor guardsmen and sorcerers attempting to flank the catachan. He had lost the sanctioned psyker battle squad in the process when a small group of chaos marines had counter attacked his squad, he had eventually defeated the group but had been separated from the main catachan force

Meanwhile Nominious , squad leader of a small group of catachan imperial guards has become the lone survivor as several chaos warriors brutally killed his mean he attempted to hold them off but realized he could regroup with some other nearby aoldiers for a counter attack. He managed to rally some troops and counterattack the chaos warriors ,even scoring a few kills himself with wealer firepower .

The primaris psyker longinus hearing the sounds of battle stumbles into portion of the forest where the ragtag group of men are holding out against mostly traitor imperial guard. They're doing a good job but that will change quickly once the bulk of the forces or a full squad of chaos marines, or emperor forbid a daemon show up. "Sargeant, gather your men we need to fall back. It isn't a request, it's an order while they bear no official rank in the hierarchy primaris psykers are considered officers

"Oh you don't have to tell me twice ,Men fall back now ! Gather ad many wounded as possible and Lets get out of here !!" He says to his makeshift squad who rush to pick up the lightly wounded ,in about a minute everyone is ready to move.

"Masters of sorcery, to the extent no sane psyker can match there leaders... except of course the emperor, or maybe an elder farseer but that's beside the point" he motions for the catachans to follow him towards the cadian position[/size]

Nominous manages to reassure them ,that if the Psyker makes any suspicious moves ,they will take him out . There is an air of heavy distrust between the two groups ,not in the lone psyker's favor .

Longinus is not too worried by the distrust he had been transfered to their squad and catachans weren't known for their acceptance of outsiders even commissars had trouble gaining their respect. Of course being a beta level psyker none of them would be stupid enough to attack him, sane beta level psykers like him only showed up in the entire human race less than a dozen a generation, and alpha levels sometimes only once a millenia.
"Pea shooters down gentlemen we've fought together before, I assure you the adeptus telepathica wouldn't have let me take this assignment, if I was not well suited to protect myself from demons"

The guys nod,but its obvious they aren't going to be so easily swayed . However Nominous responds "I understand that ,but even the best have been turned ,make no mistake ,we all realize its not your fault ,but you and the rest of you ,are like a game of Russian roulette ,there's alot of chance ,and if you lose you may very while die."

"If it was akin tons game of Russian rullete none of us would be alive right now, primaris psykers rarely turn thinks to our training, and the grey knights never turn, it's all thanks to our training really, now even the most vulnerable sanctioned psykers surpass the vast majority we're talking one in a thousand are deemed strong enough to be trained, the rest are killed, So even your standard sanctioned psykers are usually quite safe, though there are occasional slip ups even with us I suppose, so I understand" the psyker contemplates this as psykers of his level who survive this long are usually with chaos from the start

The others don't seem very reassured but keep it to themselvesl. As they emerge out of the Forrest edge a cadian centaur light personnel carrier drives to a stop near the squad, and castile opens the hatch, 

"got room for six,  psykers first then others by rank sorry the vehicle can't run with 8 we'll send a chimera for the rest"

The soldiers nod ,they expected this much to be honest ,the lowest ranked ones start getting into defensive positions for the coming wave of chaos. Nominous pounds his chest with a fist in the direction of the fires and gets in line behind Longinus.

Longinus nods and gets in first, psykers or equally rare weapon substitutes are required in a situation like this, as traditional weapons cannot vanquish a greater daemon should one appear. Once everyone who can fit is in Castile guns the centaur on its way back to camp as she fills them in "most of our forces In the area got scattered during the assault from the thousand sons but we managed to peice ourselves together and hold them off in a nearby city. We called for help but it'll be about a day before the nearest space marine chapter arrives

"I guessed as much "The catachan says leaning his back against the wall .

"They better send more than space marines... This is the prodigal sons warband, I will have the astropath contact the Inquisition." Longinus says thoughfully

It's a bumpy ride for half an hour before arriving at the cadian position, during a lull in the battle, cadians and a few remaining catachans seem to have recently fended off a wave of cultist's and other heretics sent ahead of the main enemy position, as robed bodies holding subpar weapons liter the battlefield. The centuar stops near the trenches of the front line "this is where you gentlemen get out" Castile says

Nominous nods in appreciation and hops out ,his ragtag men following.

The cadians are a much more visably organized unit than the catachans while not as skilled in fighting in the jungle or against orcs, they hail from cadia a world that stands as the first line of defense against the chaos from the eye of terror, they were born and raised to fight this threat as much as any human can be.

A female astropath with the troops turns towards the group looking at them with hollow slits where eyes used to be, some how they seem to stare into your very soul "no need to be so skittish, scared of a blind woman?" She teases the unnerved squad saved for Longinus

Nominous doesn't seem fazed ,he's had encounters with them before on large scale battles.

[Admin]

The astropath frowns a little dissapointed by his lack of reaction. "Anyway your regiment has survived intact more or less intact, they will be providing enhanced fire support for you and your psyker, your unit, and half a dozen over soldiers will be under his direct command , with the exception you are to do whatever is necessary to pull him back if things go south, he is worth all of our lives and more." She says quite frankly "I will acompany you to relay orders and provide support as needed, questions?"

Longinus takes a few moments to survey the fortifications before deciding on a plan for his unit likely chaos will make a full push within the hour "Alright sergeant we are going to set up in the Autocannon nest on the hill behind the main trenches, it'll give me space to survey the battle and deal with powerful daemons and sorcerers as they appear, and I'll assume one of you can return fire with the Autocannon if someone tries to pin us down"
